Silent Protest

In the early hours of Saturday 29 August 2020, a dedicated team from the Thirroul Community for a Sustainable Town Centre group set up an art installation comprising over 100 community quotes opposing the proposed Thirroul Plaza Development. They are the voices that “could not be heard”.

Being unable to stage a public meeting to inform the community about the many issues and community impacts of the proposed Thirroul Plaza Development, the team came up with the idea of an art installation that was COVID-safe.

The art installation was extremely well attended and all who wandered amongst the installation throughout the day expressed that it was a wonderfully creative way to convey our message under COVID restrictions on public gatherings.
